Survival of the Mom

Tuesday Tag-Along                         Tuesday Tag-along, Join the fun!!

"Can I please, please, please go to work with you honey? I am sure your boss won't mind!!"

                                      A Mommy Crisis?

Hmmm, not sure what to do after the 10th cup of milk was spilled in an HOUR, and nobody knows who did it. How about when you finish painting your living room and the next morning there is pen scribbled all over it? Trying times having these little ones. “Enjoy the most of it,” people say! I say, “Which part, the ever increasing amount of laundry, the 25 tantrums a day, the incessant fighting, the food you took all day to cook that nobody likes, or a house that is never quite presentable?”

Having six children, I have learned a few things along the way. Situations not worth trying to change would be:

  • Kids leaving the front door open and letting the dogs out.
  • Children leaving more toothpaste in the sink than on their toothbrush.
  • Having more old food - french fries, cracker, pretzels - in your car than people.
  • Owning enough children’s artwork to fill a small warehouse.
  • Shoes upon shoes littering the entryway of your house.
My all time personal favorite thing to not bother trying to change is living room furniture splattered with an assortment of peanut butter and jelly, gum remnants, and various handprints from who knows what.

Getting through the parenting stage with your sanity is holding onto those times when your child adoringly looks up at you with eyes that say, “You are the best,” or draws an indecipherable picture meant only for you. Taking three hour naps and waking up to declare their unyielding devotion to you, promising to live with you forever. Now, this may be a nice sentiment for some parents but an all out concern to others. Being a parent can be hard; worth it, yes, but hard. Knowing the value of these little people on your life and on society is the continual picture we must put before ourselves - especially on the days when there is more day than energy.

Ever Have One of Those Years (I mean days) ???

 5 boys: 11, 10 , 8, 5, and 2 yrs. 1 baby girl: 4 months

A day or so ago, said 5 yr. old and 2 yr. old took all of the clothes off of every shelf in the closet and removed all the hung items. (I hang almost everything) Meanwhile the 8 yr. old was destroying the kitchen in attempts to make something to eat (his mother otherwise tied up- facing the clothes).  2yr.old thought it would be a great idea to put a bowlful of chocolate ice cream in the toilet ... Throwing it around the bathroom before depositing into said toilet. In a moment of major chaos I decided my hubby might need to take a half day.

All is well now, older kids ended up cutting down trees or something at the neighbor's, and the little people took a nap. I hope my baby girl is a little less active:)

Four Legged Catastrophe

                              Four Legged Catastrophe

"I was three years old. I was messing with my grandparents' dog in Las Vegas, and he decided to pick me up by my head and run around the backyard with me."

Brian Austin Green

Well, hubby went to Bible study as he does every Monday evening!! (Notice the exclamation marks) I really am thrilled that he goes and studies God's Word, I just feel bad for me who is then in for a night of "let's see how overwhelmed we can make mommy," since we have already been together 12hrs of this day. Each and every Monday evening our yellow Lab "escapes" to the outside by way of one of my children (Note- this is not a good thing). While chasing down said dog with 4 month old in hand,  rain starts to pour down on me and the baby. My dog then decides to poop in the neighbor's yard and my 11 yr. old steps in it without shoes on. This is all happening as I am screaming for my children to  go home so that said children will make it safely to tomorrow without getting run over by a car. Did I mention we are giving the dog to a new family? Just kidding. Of course we will keep the dog.

Experiencing Noise Pollution

Noise Pollution

You know you are experiencing noise pollution when...

  • You can hear your child breathing three rooms away and it annoys you.
  • The click clack of the dogs nails on your floor irritates the snot out of you.
  • The sound of chewing food makes you want to crawl out of your skin.
  • You wonder why people are talking and all you hear is wha wha wha wha wha wha wha wha wha wha wha wha wha.
